National Dog Owner's Certification NHB - Practical Course

NHB Practical Course comprises 12x 60-minute lessons and covers:

  • Learning and learning methods: classical conditioning, instrumental conditioning, markers, reinforcement, learning through positive reinforcement.
  • Basic obedience  and handling exercises:
    leash handling, sit, down, stop, stay/wait, recall, trade, leave-it, general body handling: (lifting/restraining, showing ears, teeth, paws)
  • Bonding: building and promoting bonds, social learning, and improving cooperation.
  • Bite inhibition and Muzzle Training: development, reinforcement, impulse control, rules of play
  • Socialization: what it is and isn't, how, why, habituation, and generalization.
  • Excitement and Calming: Play and motivation, how, what, why, and how to recognize it.
  • Body Language: recognizing important expressions, basic emotions, signs of over- and under-stimulation, or stress.
  • Transportation: getting in and out, accommodation, and stay in the vehicle
  • City Learning Walk: public buildings, public transportation, streets, elevators, stairs, restaurants, etc.
  • Country Learning Walk: joggers, walkers, cyclists, riders, farm animals, fields, other dogs and owners, wild animals
Participants will receive a written course certificate and be registered in a national database.

 

Cost of Practical Group Course (max. 3 dog-handler teams)
12 x 60 min.       CHF 500.00  (does not include cost of the practical exam -- which is usually CHF 120.00)

 

People joining the course may be total beginners or have already done quite a lot of training with their dogs.
